SharingZone is a file sharing service that hosts one of the largest peer-to-peer networks known. If you're not familiar with such a service, file sharing is the process of uploading and downloading documents, graphics, programs, and sound files within a single environment. SharingZone however, is one of those environments that provides the server space and bandwidth to accommodate this kind of activity. But instead of being uploaded and downloaded from a web site (such as a file library for example), files are shared via software. This software acts as an interface between SharingZone's server space and your computer. Uploading and downloading files is then a simple matter of dragging a file from or to your computer from or to SharingZone's server. (If you're familiar with FTP software, then you've got the general idea.)
What makes SharingZone interesting is that it hosts files that aren't normally hosted at file libraries. The file libraries that we know and have come to love typically host freeware and shareware programs and applications. What you'll find at SharingZone instead are original graphics, videos, or even sound files that most file libraries aren't interested in hosting. You'll also find file sharing-related tools that assist you with transferring files, playing videos, burning CDs, and so forth. In a sense, its an 'underground' file library that often serves out-of-the-ordinary interests. It's a great way for instance, for an artist to distribute his artwork, or for an alternative musician to distribute his songs. Other finds may include rpg games, game cheats, or game fan files.
SharingZone offers an extensive collection of downloadable files for a membership fee. Although the files inside the SharingZone network are free, membership pays for online help and support. There are never any pay-per-download fees for any of the files that it provides access to. To open the files that you download, you many need an additional utility that unzips archives. Winzip is the most popular utility used, while Winrar and a few others are additional staples you'll want to keep on hand just in case.
Before signing up, you'll need to agree to perhaps one of the most important terms of service that you'll ever have to abide by. That's because in general, file sharing networks have a bad reputation for distributing copyrighted material. SharingZone does not condone uploading or downloading copyrighted material, and it cautions you of civil and/or criminal liability and penalties. As long as you agree to abide by the laws, SharingZone can be a wonderful source of entertainment.
