EmailFinder - Product Review

EmailFinder claims to be the internet's largest email resource and it helps locate people based on name or email address only. In this regard, it's not as invasive as other, similar investigative services are. But it does offer access to a world-wide database, making the process of locating an online comrade fairly simple. So simple in fact, you can locate a friend, family member, or business associate using just one of two easy methods.

The first method uses a reverse search function and it's appropriate when you have an email address, but you don't know who it belongs to. The second method is appropriate when you have a person's name, but not a corresponding email address. Being so easy, it's not too surprising that EmailFinder is used by law enforcement, government, lawyers, private investigators, and regular users like you and us.

When we gave EmailFinder a test run, we were rather surprised to see how accurate it was. We first searched for our own names, and then we searched for our email addresses. The results of each were more accurate in the second attempt than in the first attempt -- but that's perfectly understandable. If you were to search for a common name like John Smith for example, EmailFinder would probably return thousands of email addresses. If you were to search by email address however, you would probably retrieve one or two corresponding names. Since only one person can use a single email address at a time, additional names probably belong to those who used the same email address years before it was deleted and reactivated as an available address.

Since the number of results can vary, the service provides additional fields that will help narrow a search. By adding an address and phone number to your query, you can narrow a set of results down to three from a hundred. Narrowing that set of results by country should return the person that you're looking for.

Be sure to read over EmailFinder's terms of service. Although this web site focuses on name-to-email address matches, it's not an email harvesting resource and it may not be used to collect email addresses for the purposes of sending spam.
