The Best Way To Buy Software

Filed under: buying software — admin @ 11:20 pm

There’s no better way to buy software than to try it out on your own system first. Failing to do so can send your software budget through the roof since quite often, what’s advertised isn’t what’s available. You may for example pay $300 for an accounting system only to discover that it won’t work with your partitioned hard drive. Or you could spend three times that for an anti-virus program and later find out that it’s incompatible with your system’s SR1 version! Using the demo version of a program that you’re interested in therefore, is the only way that you can truly determine how well its commercial version will run since manufacturers can not possibly perceive the intricacies of every computer system.

The Importance of Literacy

Filed under: randy's reading program — admin @ 11:15 pm

If you’re reading this, chances are you take literacy for granted. It comes so naturally for the majority of us, we can’t imagine what life is like for people who can not read. If you will for a moment, just try to imagine the life of the illiterate individual. This individual can not pass the written part of a driver’s test. He can not properly manage a bank account nor can he read the contents of his own utility bills. He must depend on the graciousness of other people to read things aloud to him, as if he were still a child. Either that or he must devise creative ways to hide his illiteracy from everyone he meets.

Data Recovery FAQ

Filed under: software maintenance — admin @ 11:13 pm

What is Data Recovery?

Data recovery attempts to restore a hard drive’s damaged or lost programs and files. And it’s a tool that’s often applied in the event of hard drive failure (although many people may simply prefer hard drive replacement).  Almost anything can cause hard drive failure ranging from human error to viruses to flood or water damage. But our resources are limited when it comes to correcting that failure. We can usually only try data restoration.

Randy’s Reading Program

Filed under: randy's reading program — admin @ 2:14 am

SavySoftware has formed a new partnership with one of Rentacoder’s top certified experts to develop and donate educational software to some of the nation’s most disadvantaged schools. The move comes after learning the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) gave third world countries a higher literacy rate than that found in the U.S. It also comes after learning Schwarzenegger’s threat to cut California’s education budget.

As a result, Randy’s Reading Program (screenshot below), will be released as a full, free literacy course for grades K - 3. It will feature professional graphics, voiceover’s, hands-off video tutorials, and a rich vocabulary full of both short and long vowels, blends, ends, silent letters, multi-syllable words, unique spelling patterns and more. Designed to run on all versions of Windows, Randy’s Reading Program will release its first segment of eight March 30, 2008.
