WinSpy - Product Review

Most people find it sufficient that the key to security is tweaking a few parental controls or warning teens about online predators. But no real discussion about Internet security is complete without introducing a number of unique issues including stealth monitoring and monitoring software. These two key components of computer security are small but important contributors to what's called a full security system. Do they work?

We set out to see how well WinSpy fulfilled such a steep responsibility and were rather surprised at its capabilities. WinSpy's Remote Install and Realtime Remote PC Viewer showed us everything that we did on a remote computer from a simple hotkey and login. No matter what we did from the remote side, we couldn't terminate or uninstall the program.

That means anyone who is truly concerned about security will appreciate how well-protected WinSpy's security is -- especially since we couldn't disable it from the environment where it was most needed:

In Chat Rooms
In Email
On The Web
On Employee PCs
Across Networks

What doubly-impressed us however, is the number of monitoring options we had. At any moment, we were able to detect activity on our remote PC via computer screenshots, view our remote office with a Webcam, and record sounds from the remote PC's microphone. AND we could upload and download any file from that computer as well!

The screenshot action didn't hog resources and it remained unobtrusive even when we opted to sneak a shot every 6 seconds. All images were tagged with the current date and time, and saved to a private folder which WinSpy conveniently hid.

Its keylogger function was equally remarkable as we literally watched everything and everything that was typed onto our remote PC. Like with the screenshots above, remote keyboard activity was logged and saved into a password protected folder on our end.

Another feature we believe will interest parents is the keyword alert function. Here, we configured WinSpy to email us the moment our remote colleague typed the phrase, "mom left" and it worked like a charm!

If you're concerned about what your child, teen, employee, wife, or husband does on the computer, WinSpy is a program worth investigating and an obvious choice.
